Featured project

Built, supported, and maintained a custom digital platform using Ruby on Rails over the course of the product's six year evolution for a life and executive coaching company. Handled all aspects of the product including full-stack development, feature design, managing sub-contractor developers, and server configuration / maintenance. Some of the key features of this application are listed below.

  • Multiple, configurable products for various focus streams — eg: life, love, career, student — plus enterprise versions.
  • Purchasing (including configurable payment plans and coupons) and gifting using the Stripe API.
  • User features like Actionable Dashboard, Learning Modules (including audio lessons, homework sections, and coach feedback), Promise Tracker, Gamified Stats, cached Progress Indicators, and Buddy System.
  • Encryption for all user generated data.
  • Events management system for masterclasses and orientations — including purchasing.
  • Configurable quizzes to bring users into the purchase funnel.
  • Extensive backend functions for admins and consultants to manage users, billing, products, coupons, events, and quizzes.
  • Coach dashboard for interacting with clients and providing feedback on homework assignments.
  • Bulk sale for enterprises that allows creation of a private community for each organization.
  • Sophisticated filterable reporting for sales and usage.
  • Notifications with in-app alerts, emails, and text messaging.
  • Analytics integration with Facebook pixel for sales tracking and Google Analytics.
  • Integrations with external services like Stripe, Mailchimp, Twilio, and custom webhooks.
  • Several automations for processes like — emails for monthly stats, payment failure alerts, buddy requests, and user re-engagement.
  • Built and managed several related marketing sites.

Windchime Health

Co-founded and built a dental health marketplace that allowed practices to sell excess capacity at their clinics at reduced rates. The marketplace also set standard prices by region to create transparent pricing for the consumer and a baseline for discounts. Responsible for product ideation and design, feature design, and technical development. Worked with the CEO on the business plan creation and seed fundraising. Designed and created all marketing and fundraising collateral — pitch decks, online ads, and material for tradeshows. Executed pre-sales demos for investors and practices.

The marketplace had a Ruby on Rails backend plus API. The provider dashboard was also on RoR and the mobile app was written in React Native resulting in both iOS and Android versions.

72 Lux, Inc.

72Lux (now Shoppable) is an e-commerce, software as a service startup. While there, designed and developed various internal and user facing applications using Ruby on Rails, PHP/Codeigniter, and a high-performance Node.js application that backed the service API. Worked on the core Javascript library that, as part of the service, called APIs and then used Dust templates to render the responses. Built an asynchronous order workflow system on top of AmazonSWS and wrote a crawler using Node.js to augment XML product data feeds.

Raley's is a privately held retail grocery chain with over 130 stores and several distribution warehouses throughout Northern California and Nevada. As a member of the application development team, was responsible for the development and support of various Java-based business systems. These applications integrated some core enterprise systems and provided a unified front end for several business functions like vendor contract negotiations, promotion management, sales forecast and analysis, automated ordering, and plus-out management. Lead developer on several enterprise projects which focused on launching a loyalty program and online shopping.

Wipro is a global IT services company. Held varied roles as a consultant and pre-sales engineer with the Systems Integration practice. Led development teams, helped design, develop, and deliver several custom integration solutions. Clients included — California ISO (a non-profit public benefit corporation that manages the energy grid in California), Fisher Scientific (a scientific equipment retailer), Weyerhaueser Company (forest products company), Buhrmann Holland (paper products), and BP Gas UK (energy).

OmniSky was a wireless service and content provider for the Palm Pilot and similar handhelds. As part of the engineering team, developed and administered integration solutions for their core services that interface with external providers. Worked with external consultants on project delivery and handover.
